Optimizing Regional Opening-Up Landscape ： Significance and Key Pathways

Abstract： Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China， China has made notable progress in regional opening-up，with upgraded opening-up levels，highlighted regional features， prominent roles of pilot free trade zones，and deeper cooperation. Optimizing this landscape is significant for fostering a new development pattrn， building a unified national market， boosting independent innovation，cultivating new productivity，countering anti-globalization，and balancing development with security. Going forward， to shape a new landscape of high-level opening-up，efforts should focus on advancing“westward opening” via the Belt and Road，upgrading pilot free trade zones，and promoting coordinated opening-up of coastal，border，and inland regions.
