Damage of Late Frost to Zhuanglang Apples and Control Measures

Abstract： The apple industry is a pillar of the rural economy in Zhuanglang County， and late frost poses a significant threat to its development. Observations indicate that the severity of frost damage is influenced by multiple factors， including topography， cultivar， plant organ， and the position of the fruit within the tree canopy. This paper proposes frost prevention and control measures encompassing optimal orchard site selection， improved cultivar structure， delaying phenology， application of anti-frost agents before freezing events， and spraying plant growth regulators after frost. Based on practical application， smoking and mechanical frost protection methods demonstrate certain limitations in orchard frost defense. In contrast， the application of a gibberellic acid + thidiazuron combination significantly improves the fruit set rate， representing a valuable frost mitigation and efficacy-enhancing technology worthy of promotion.
