Analysis of Occurrence Causes and Countermeasures of Spider Mites

Abstract: Spider mites are a general term for harmful mites belonging to the Tetranychidae family. Common species include Hawthorn spider mites, Cinnabar spider mites, European red mites and Conifer spider mites. Their host plants cover a wide range of fruit trees, garden tree species and crops, such as apple tree, pear tree, peach tree, hawthorn, Chinese chestnut, crabapple, willow, purple-leaf plum, flowering peach, sweet osmanthus, boxwood, azalea, cedar, Japanese black pine, cucumber, corn, cotton and soybean. This pest has multiple generations per year with severe generation overlapping, making it highly difficult to control and often resulting in unsatisfactory control efficacy. The damage characteristics and occurrence regularity of spider mites are expounded, the common problems in control and the causes of poor control efficacy are analyzed in depth, and several highly operable countermeasures are summarized in a targeted manner, aiming to provide references and assistance for planting managers.
