Influence of Alkali Activation on the Gelling Properties of Phosphorus Tailings

Abstract:Inorder to implement thelow-carbonandenvironmental protectionpolicy,reducetheaccumulationof phosphorus tailingsresourcesand increase therationalutilizationof phosphorus tailingsresources,thispaperjudgesthemechanical propertiesofalkali-activatedphosphorustailingscementitiousmaterialsthrough fivemethods:seting time,mechanical properties,compositioncharacteristics,microstructureandhydration heat.Theresultsshowthattheefect of alkali activation onthesetingtimeofphosphorustailingscementitious materialsiscloselyrelatedtotetypeofactivator.Teinitalseingtime of the PTSCratioisonaverage92minutesshorterthanthatofthePTSSratio.Thefinalseting timeofthePTSCratiois prolongedwith thedecreaseofthesodiumhydroxideratio,whilethefinal seting timeofthePTSSratioisshortenedwiththe decreaseof thesodiumcarbonateratio.Undertheconditionofcompositeactivation,thecompositeactivation efectof sodium hydroxideandsodium silicateisbeterthanthatof sodiumcarbonateandsodium silicate,andtheformed productsare more abundantandthe structureis morecompact.The bestefect isachieved whenthemixedratioof sodium hydroxideand sodium silicate is 1:6 .The influence of different alkali activator ratios onthe hydration heatof phosphorus tailings is not significant,and phosphorustailingsgreatlyinhibittheoccurrnceof hydrationheatTherefore,alkaliactivationcanpromotetheimprovemntof the mechanical propertiesof phosphorus tailings,especiallywhensodium silicateandsodium hydroxideareused.Research
