[Abstract]Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a kind of common multiple diseases characterized byventilation restriction, which mainly occurs inmiddle-aged and elderly people.Osteoporosis is a common complicationof COPD.The significantfeature of osteoporosis is that due to changes inthe microstructure of bone tissue, bonemassdecreases, resulting in increased fragilityofbone, thereby increasing theriskof fracture. Fractures caused by osteoporosis may increase morbidity and mortality in patients with COPD and lead to further deterioration of lung function. Therefore, COPD is closely related to osteoporosis. COPD patients have a high incidence of osteoporosis, which may be associated with systemic inflammation, corticosteroid use, vitamin D deficiency, physical inactivity, tobacco exposure, decreased bone mineral density, hypogonadism, hypoxia, and anemia.Inclinical practice, the rate of diagnosis and treatmentof osteoporosis in patients with COPD is low.Bone mineral density is aquantitative indexused todiagnoseand predictosteoporosis and evaluatethe efficacy of drug therapy. However, due tothe slow process of bone mineral densitychange, bone metabolismindicators can be used as a sensitive reference to measure the severity of osteoporosis.
