Impact of Industrial Robots in Manufacturing on Embodied Carbon in Exports

Abstract: Based on the OECD database, the multi-region input-output model (MRIO) was used to calculate the export embodied carbon emissions of 12 manufacturing subsectors in 56 countries from 2O08 to 20l8. Combined with IFR robot data,the mediating effect and moderating effect were utilized to examine the impact and mechanism of applying industrial robots in manufacturing on the embodied carbon of export trade. The research results show that the application of industrial robots in manufacturing can reduce the embodied carbon emissions of export trade by enhancing the digital input level of manufacturing, strengthening technological innovation and upgrading the industrial structure. The impact on the embodied carbon of export trade is more obvious in developing countries and technology-intensive industries.
