Influence of Carbon Emission Control Coefficient on Enterprise Optimal Decision under Carbon Trading Mechanism

Abstract: Utilizing nonlinear convex optimization theory,a comparative analysis was conducted on optimal production and emission reduction investment decisions was made by enterprises under three scenarios of without/with technological emission reduction investments and consumer preferences for low-carbon products,within the framework of carbon trading policies. The carbon reduction strategies was explored based on historical emission carbon allowances under the carbon trading mechanism. The results show that the carbon reduction coefficient exerts significant and varied influences on encouraging technological emission reduction investments by enterprises,shaping consumer preferences for low-carbon products,and impacting the carbon trading market across four distinct intervals. These intervals dictate four possible outcomes for enterprises,including all can profit from selling carbon allowances,only those with technological emission reductions and catering to consumer low-carbon preferences can benefit, only those catering to consumer low-carbon preferences benefit,and all must purchase carbon allowances. Notably,in the carbon trading model with a carbon allowance mechanism based on historical emissions,both the total carbon emissions and the carbon emissions per unit product of enterprises are minimized when consumers exhibit a preference for low-carbon products.
