Digital Economy， Industrial Structure Upgrading， and Urban Female Employment

Abstract：The rapid advancement of the digital economy has driven profound transformations in traditional industries and employment structures. Based on three core dimensions—digital infrastructure construction，digital industrialization，and industrial digitalization—an entropy weight method was employed to construct and measure the comprehensive digital economy development index of Chinese provinces from 2Oll to 2023.On this basis，a two-way fixed effects model and a moderating effects model were used to empirically examine the employment issues of urban women. The findings indicate that the development of the digital economy significantly promotes the scale of urban female employment.Heterogeneity analysis reveals that the positive effect of the digital economy on urban female employment in the central and western regions is substantially stronger than that in the eastern region. Mechanism tests demonstrate that industrial structure upgrading plays a positive moderating role in the process through which the digital economy drives urban female employment.It is recommended to continue advancing the development of the digital economy and optimizing the industrial structure to achieve higher-quality and more sufficient employment for women.
