Analysis of campus network traffic behavior integrating NetFlow and SDN

Abstract:Tomaintainthestableoperationofthenetworkwithinthecampus,thispaperproposesacampus networktaffic behavioranalysismethodintegratingNetFlowandSDN.NetFlowtechnologyisusedtocolectthenetworktraffcdatawithinthe campus,andthecolecteddataundergoescaching,transmisson,timeoutrelease,anddataencapsulation.TheSDNcontroleruses thetraffcdataprocessedbyNetFlowtechnologyasthedatasource,extractstraffcfeaturesanddetectsabnormalbehaviors, ultimatelyachievingacomprehensiveanalysisofthenetworktraficbehaviorwithinthecampus.Experimentalresultsshowthat thismethodcanefectivelyidentifyvariousabnormalbehaviorssuchasDDoSatacks,IoTanomalies,ARPspofing,witha detection rate exceeding 95% .In 10 tests,the false negative rate iswithin 1% inall cases,and the detection time is around 500 seconds.Thismethodnotonlyefectivelyidentifiesabnormalnetworktrafficbehaviorsbutalsohashighdetectioneiciency making it suitable forprecise detection and security protection of the network traffc in the campus.
