How does the Digital Economy Empower Regional Green Development —A Perspective Based on Reducing Capital Misallocation

Abstract：Based on the data of 284 Chinese cities from 2O11 to 2020，this paper investigates the impact of digital economy on regional green development from the perspective of reducing capital misallocation. The result shows that digital economy can promote regional green development，and this conclusion still holds significantly after a series of robust tests. From the perspective of heterogeneity，the impact of digital economy on regional green development difers by digital infrastructure，innovation institutional environments，and industrial structures. The mechanism analysis reveals that reducing capital misalcation is an important channel for digital economy to empower green development. Moreover，the digital economy exerts positive spillover effects on green development across neighboring regions.
