Abstract: The construction of new engineering disciplines is a crucial national strategy in response to the rapid development of the new economy, aimed at cultivating innovative talents in interdisciplinary fields. With the powerful language processing capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs), traditional teaching methods are facing new changes and challenges. Based on the context of new engineering education, this paper explores the application of generative large language models in bridge engineering education from three aspects: instructional design, examination guidance, and ideological-political education. The characteristics of generative large language models in practical teaching applications are analyzed. Practice demonstrates that generative large language models possess substantial professional knowledge reserves and can effectively analyze and solve professional problems, showing practical value in actual teaching scenarios.
