[Abstract]Observation by scanning electron microscopy confirmed the existence of an acid-base resistant zone (ABRZ)beneath the hybrid layeratthedental bonding interface.The formationofthis zone is relatedtothechemical reactionbetweenacidic functional monomersand hydroxyapatiteindentin.Unlikethetraditional hybrid layer,ABRZ is characterizedbyresin-encapsulated partiallydemineralized hydroxyapatite.This formation enhances theresistanceof the bondinterfacetoacid-basedegradationand long-term bondingdurability.Recent studiessuggestthatABRZformsmore readily inself-etchadesivesystems.Thestructureof thiszoneiscloselyrelated tothechemicalcompositionoftheadhesive.In thisreview,the microstructure,influencing factors,and formation mechanism ofABRZaresummarized to provide insights for clinical and scientific research on dental bonding.
