[Abstract]Traditionaltreatmentmethods forperiodontitisincludesurgicalperiodontaltreatmentandnon-surgical perio dontal treatment，whichincludessupragingivalscaling，subgingivalscaling，androotplanning.Theeffectivenessofthese treatments isclear，butcertainlimitationsareobserved.Theeffectofnon-surgical treatmentmaybeaffectedbyesidual dental calculus becauseofunclear visionand dificulty in direct vision.Surgical treatment mayalso be difficult to apply becauseof patientcontraindicationsor fearof surgery.Periodontal endoscopyhas visibilityand minimallyinvasive properties.It can guide doctors to observe and remove subgingival calculus more clearly with minimal damage，thereby achieving ideal treatmentoutcomesand improvingpatientsatisfaction.Itcan alsobeapplied toasistin the diagnosisof periodontaldisease，periodontalsurgeryandtreatmentofper-implantitis.Itcanalsodeepenstudents’understandingof periodontal diagnosis andtreatment inclinical teaching.Although itsdiagnosisandtreatmentefectivenesstillhavecertain limitations and controversies，it provides novel insightsand methodsfortheclinicalpreventionand treatmentofperiodontaldiseases.Thisarticleprovidesareview of the application of periodontal endoscopy in clinical diagnosisand treatment.
