Analysis， Handling and Enlightenments on the Stator Winding Breakdown of a Ship's Steering Gear Motor

Abstract： This paper adopts the fault tree analysis （FTA） method to conduct comprehensive investigation and analysis onthe possible causes of the stator winding breakdown ofa ship's steering gear motor.The root cause of the problem is identified as the breakdown of the motor's stator winding caused by high-frequency spike voltages in the motor's power supply.Through mechanism analysis， the problem is solved by adding an output reactor at the output terminal of the driver to suppress the peak-to-peak voltage of the input power supply.The investigation method for the problem cause and the rectification measures have high reference value for handling similar issues.
