Abstract: The propulsion shafting system of a ship vibrates under the action of various external excitation forces,such as the pulsed driving force from the diesel engine and the hydrodynamic force from the propeller. Among these,the axial excitation forces exhibit complex alternating characteristics, making manual calculations labor-intensive and time-consuming.To improve design efciency,this study develops arapid prediction software for longitudinal excitation forces in ship shafting systems using a combined Qt and MATLAB framework.Validation results demonstrate thatthe influencing factors oflongitudinal excitation forces identified bythesoftware align with theGuidelines for the Control of Ship Vibration: When evaluating the impact ofthe diesel engine on the shafting system's longitudinal excitation forces,the primary factors toconsider are thecylinder diameter,crankpin length,and reciprocating mass, while the crank radius of the diesel engine serves as a secondary factor.
