Naming Patterns of Urban Parks in Shenzhen in the Context of ParkCityDevelopment

Abstract

With the rapid development of urbanization，park names have increasingly become an essential part of the urban toponymic systems.Park naming patterns have become a crucial component of urban park planning and management， and an important manifestation of modernizing urban governance systems and governance capacity.This paper reviews the evolution，function，and significance of park names，as wellas the practical status of park naming work inChina.Thestudy reveals that no specialized regulations currently exist，with local management primarily relying on the'Regulations on Geographical Names'.Major cities including Beijing， Chengdu， Qingdao，and Chongqing have carried out preliminary practical explorations in park naming. Taking Shenzhen’s Park Naming Guidelines as a case study，this paper analyzes the current situation and problems of park naming under the park city concept.The study identifies four main issues in Shenzhen's park naming： unclear reference to park names，insufficient structural standardization，insuficient vocabulary support，and insufficient incorporation of historical and cultural elements.Based on these findings，the paper proposes standardization strategies and specific measures for naming objects，naming structures，naming vocabularies， naming procedures，and flexible implementation approaches，with the aim of providing guidance for park naming in Shenzhen and othercities.
