Abstract
Based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP),this article proposes a comprehensive evaluation model to screenand evaluate street tree species in the Southern Subtropics of China.Themodel incorporates5criterion layersand16 indicator levels.46 native tree species from the Southern Subtropics in China are evaluated in detail using this model. Theresults indicate that7 species,such as Camphora parthenoxylon,Cleidiocarpon cavaleriei and Terminalia myriocarpa exhibit excellent performance; 21 species, such as Prunus zippeliana,Machiluschinensis,Micheliabalansae show very good performance. All of these native species are recommended for wide use as urban street trees in cities in the south-central subtropical regions of Guangdong and Guangxi, as well as in the central subtropical regions of Yunnan. Concurrently,twelve new superior native tree species have been selected for promotion,providing a reference for selecting street tree species in South subtropics cities.
