Abstract
With theacceleration of urbanization, the number of urban residentswho own dogs in China continues to increase. However, regulations in most urban spaces that prohibit dogwalking contradict the growing demand for dog-walking areas. To scientifically build petfriendly urban spaces in China, this paper takes international relevant experiencesas the research object, uses CiteSpace visualization knowledge graph to analyze 214 English documents from the Web of Science platform, and combines traditional qualitative review tosummarize the research process, trends, and thematicclusters regarding the impact of urban dog-walking activities on human settlements and residents'health abroad. Thefindings show that relevant international research began in1997,with acontinuous increase inpublications thereafter.Atthe institutional level, the BritishLibrary isthe hubof the cooperation network, leading the formation of a close research collaboration system. The research themes mainly focus on two directions:'human settlements'and 'residents' health'.The keyword clustering indicates a significant clustering structure, strong thematic cohesion,a clear research framework and prominent research value. While dog-walking activities have positive impactson residents'physicaland mental health, they lsoexert negative effects on ecological functions such as regional biodiversity and carbon-nitrogen cycling.
