Research Progress on the Function of PIFs Transcription Factors

AbstractTranscription factors playan important role in controling plant responses to environmental changes.Phytochrome-interacting factors (PIFs)are oneof the most important transcription factors that regulate plant development and stimulate growth externally.This paper focused on the role of phytochrome-interacting factors in plant light signal response,shade avoidance response,hypocotyladventitious root,seed germination,abiotic stress and so on.This paper reviewed the recent advances in the understanding of the function of PIFs,including the involvement of PIFs in the occurrence of hypocotyl adventitious roots by binding to phytochromes to mediate photomorphogenesis and regulating the expresion parameters of auxin synthesis genes,and briefly described the response of PIFs transcription factors to stresss such as high temperature,low temperature,drought and salt. PIFs not only act as transcription factors to program the expresion of related genes,but also interact with various factors to participate inthe process of plant growth anddevelopment.The paper also looks forward to the future research direction of phytochrome-interacting factors.
