Reliability and validity test of the Physical Resilience Instrument for Older Adults

Abstract    Objective: To validate the reliability and validity of the Physical Resilience Instrument for Older Adults(PRIFOR). Methods: Totally 350 elderly patients visiting two tertiary general hospitals in Tianjin from January to August 2023 were recruited as study participants for a questionnaire survey to assess the reliability and validity of the scale. Results:The PRIFOR consists of three dimensions: self-efficacy and future confidence, psychological resilience and problem⁃solving, perceived of social support,encompassing a total of 16 items with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 66.292%. The overall Cronbach's α coefficient of the scale was 0.940,the split⁃half reliability was 0.908, and the test⁃retest reliability was 0.876. Conclusion: The PRIFOR demonstrates good reliability and validity and can be used to evaluate physical resilience levels among elderly individuals in China.
