Summary of best evidence for identification and management of acquired dysphagia in critically ill patients

Abstract Objective:To summarize the evidence related to the identification and management of acquired dysphagia in critically ill patients. Methods:Using evidence⁃based nursing methods, literature was searched based on the "6S" model. The literature quality evaluation and evidence grading were conducted using the literature evaluation criteria and evidence grading system (2014 version) of the Joanna Briggs Institute(JBI) of Australia.Results:A total of 16 articles were included,and 21 items of evidence were synthesized,covering six aspects including risk factors,screening measures,screening tools,implementing personnel,resumption of eating,and management and intervention.Conclusion:This summary of the best available evidence on the identification and management of acquired dysphagia in critically ill patients provides an evidence⁃based evidence for standardizing nurses' practices in identifying and managing acquired dysphagia.
