Evaluation study on the clustering of health resources in nursing homes in China from 2012 to 2021

Abstract  Objective：To analyze the allocation of health resources in nursing homes from 2012 to 2021， and to provide a decision⁃making reference for the high-quality development of nursing care.Methods：The accessibility and equity of nursing home institutional resources in China from 2012 to 2021 was studied by clustering degree.Results：The total number of nursing homes in China was 849 in 2021， with an average annual growth rate of 30.95%； the number of nursing home beds in China was 119，091 in 2021， with an average annual growth rate of 29.69%； the overall change in the number of professional and technical personnel in nursing homes was small in the period of 2012⁃2021；the number of professional and technical personnel in nursing homes in the period of 2012⁃2021， the HRAD values in the eastern region were all greater than 1， and the HRAD values in the central and western regions were all less than 1 in 2012⁃2021；the HRAD/PAD values in the eastern region of China were all greater than 1 in 2012-2021， and the central and western regions were all greater than 1 in 2012⁃2021. The HRAD/PAD values in the eastern region of China from 2012 to 2021 were all greater than 1，and the HRAD/PAD values in the central and western regions from 2012 to 2021 were all less than 1.Conclusions：The number of nursing homes and the number of beds in China maintains the trend of growth， but the urban⁃rural and typological distribution of nursing homes is relatively unbalanced； the quantitative allocation of human resources in nursing homes is lacking；and there are regional variations in the accessibility and fairness of institutional resources in nursing homes.
