Chinesization and reliability validity test of the Oncology Nurses Health Behaviors Determinants Scale

Abstract  Objective：To translate the Oncology Nurses Health Behaviors Determinants Scale（HBDS⁃ON） into Chinese and to evaluate its reliability and validity，aiming to provide a measurement tool for measuring factors affecting chemotherapy exposure in oncology nurses.Methods：Based on Brislin principle，the original scale was translated，translated back and adjusted across cultures to form the Chinese version of the scale.A total of 408 oncology nurses from three tertiary grade A hospitals in Jinzhou city，Shenyang city，and Nanchang city，Jiangxi Province were selected by convenience sampling method to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scale.Results：The Chinese version of the Oncology Nurses Health Behaviors Determinants Scale included 6 dimensions（perceived threats，perceived benefits，perceived barriers，perceived self⁃efficacy，action prompts，availability of personal protective equipment） and 29 items.The Cronbach's α coefficient of the total scale was 0.901，the split-half reliability was 0.923，and the retest reliability was 0.898.The average content validity index of the scale was 0.965.A total of 6 common factors were extracted from the exploratory factors，and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 63.660%.Conclusion：The Chinese version of the Oncology Nurses Health Behaviors Determinants Scale had good reliability and validity，and could be used to evaluate the factors affecting chemotherapy exposure in oncology nurses.
