Latent class analysis of symptom groups of patients with colorectal cancer undergoing chemotherapy

Abstract  Objective：To identify subgroups of symptoms in patients with colorectal cancer undergoing chemotherapy，and to explore the risk factors for patients with high symptom burdens.Methods：A total of 234 patients with colorectal cancer undergoing chemotherapy from December 2022 to June 2023 were selected by a cross sectional study design.And they were investigated on symptoms related to fatigue，anxiety，depression，and sleep disorders.Peripheral serum biomarkers were simultaneously measured.The Mplus 8.0 software was used to fit the latent class of subgroups.And influencing factors were screened by the multinomial Logistic regression.Results：The symptom clusters was divided into 2 subgroups.The functional domain scores and overall health domain scores of "low symptom class" were higher than "high symptom class".However，the symptom domain scores were significantly lower than "high symptom class".The influence factor is for the "high symptom class"：complication（OR=3.260），introversion（OR=7.234），intermedius type（OR=2.507）ECOG score（OR=2.409），and NLR（OR=1.475）.Conclusions：There are 2 potential categories of symptom clusters with colorectal cancer patients during chemotherapy.Patients of "high symptom class" have low quality of life.And high ECOG score，comorbidities，introversion，intermedius type，and high NLR were predictors of the "high symptom class".
