Abstract：Due tothelong-termhyperglycemicstateinpatientswithdiabetes melitus，microvasculardamageisproneto occur，which further leads todiabetic microangiopathy，mainlyincluding diabeticretinopathy（DR），diabetic kidney disease （DKD），and diabetic peripheral neuropathy （DPN）. Studies have shown thatperiodontitis，as achronic inflammatory disease，has abidirectional interaction withdiabetic microangiopathy，andtheinflammatoryresponseplaysacorelinking roleinthe mutual interaction between the two.However，the specific mechanisms underlying the association between periodontitisanddiffrent typesofdiabetic microangiopathystillneed tobefurtherclarified.Basedonthelatestresearch progressathomeandabroad，thisarticlesystematicallsortsouttheassociationmchanisms betweenperiodontitisand DR，DKD，aswellasDPN，emphasizesthenecessityofintegrating periodontalhealthmanagementintothecomprehensive preventionandcontrol systemof diabetes melitus，and providesa theoreticalbasis for the preventionand treatmentof diabetesmellitusand itsmicrovascular complications.
