Meta-analysis of the effects of blood flow restriction training on body composition and glycolipid metabolism in overweight and obese individuals

Abstract:Objective:Tosystematically evaluate theeffectsof bloodflowrestriction training(BFRT)on body compositionand glycolipid metabolism inoverweightandobese individuals.Methods:The systematicretrievalof Wanfang, China National Knowledge Infrastructure,PubMedandother databases was made,andthedatewas fromthe database establishmenttoJanuary10,2O24.TworesearchersindependentlyscreenedliteratureoforiginalstudiesinEnglishand ChinesetoinvestigatethefectsofBFRTonbodycompositionandglycolipidmetabolisminoverweightandobeseindividuals, according to predefined inclusionand exclusion criteria.Meta-analysis of included literatures used Revman5.3 software. Results:Atotalof9literatureswere included,withatotalsamplesizeof11Opeople.Meta-analysisresultsindicatedthat BFRT significantly reduced BMI and body fat percentage in overweight and obese individuals( P<0.05 ),with a trend of weightloss(P=O.O6).BFRT alsosignificantlyloweredfastingbloodglucose( P<0.05 )andshowed significant improvement effects on total cholesterol(TC)and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)levels( P<0.05 ),with a decreasing trendin triglycerides(TG)(P=O.O7).Conclusion:BFRTcan significantlyimproveBMI,body fat percentageand fasting blood glucose inoverweightandobese individuals,and helpoptimizebloodlipid indicators.It hasgoodmetabolicregulationand interventionpotential.However,due to limitationsinthenumberandqualityof included studies,these conclusions require further validation through more high-quality researches.
