Abstract:The aluminiferous rock seriesofwellL58 intheeasternLongdong areaof the Ordos Basin was taken as acase study toanalyze thecontentandvertical variations ofclayandaluminummineralsusing elementalloging data.Theseresultsare thencompared with mineralcompositionsandtheir vertical changes obtained throughgeochemical analysisandwhole-rock XRDanalysis,inorder tovalidatethefeasibilityof the proposed method.Furthermore,the mineralcontentiscorrelated with thechemical weathering index,natural gammarayvalues,porosity,andpermeabilitytoidentifykeycontrolingfactorsand diagnosticindicatorsforbauxitereservoirs.Theresultsdemonstratethatelementalloggngdatacanefectivelyidentifythe mineral composition and lithology of aluminiferous rock series.High diaspore content ( >75% ),a low chemical weathering index ( STI<15% ),and elevated natural gamma values ( GR>450 API)are indicative of high-quality reservoir zones,supporting the application of this method for the prediction of bauxite reservoir.
