Effects of parental career expectations on college students' employment anxiety： the mediating role of intoleranceofuncertainty

【Abstract】ObjectiveTo investigate the impact of parental career expectations on college students' employmentanxietyand explore theunderlying psychological mechanisms.Methods A sample of 78O senior collge studentswas assessed using the Parental Career Expectations Scale，the Short Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale， and the Collge Students'Employment Anxiety Scale.Mediation analysis was conducted to test the hypothesized pathways. Results ① Parental career expectations，intolerance of uncertainty，and employment anxiety were all positively correlated with each other （all P<0.01 ） ② Parental career expectations not only directly predicted employment anxiety （ β=0.46 ， P <0.01）but also indirectly influenced it through the mediating role of intolerance of uncertainty， accounting for 28.8% of the total effect. Conclusion Parental career expectations directly and indirectly affect college students'employmentanxiety，with intolerance of uncertainty serving as a significant mediator.
