Abstract:Climatechange directlyorindirectlyaects the healthof livestockand poultry,leading tochallnges such as heat stress,metabolic disorders,oxidative stress,and immunosuppresion,which pose significant threats to thedevelopmentof the livestock industry.Pogostemoncablin,commonly knownasPatchouli,isatraditional Chinese herb knownitsanti-inflammatory,antioxidant,andantidiarrheal properties.Whenusedasafeedadditive,either aloneorincombination with other herbal mulations,ithas been shown toaleviate heat stress in livestock and poultry,promotegastrointestinal health,and enhance antioxidant capacityto varying degrees.This article systematicalyreviews thephysicochemical propertiesofPogostemoncablinand its compound preparation,as wellas theirapplications in livestock production.Thefindingsaim to provideareference further promoting theuseof Pogostemon cablin in animal production systems.
