Urban Digital Economy Development and Cross-Sector Adjustment of Labor

Abstract：The digital economy has become the most active area of China's economic development and an important engine for the development of new quality productivity. It has a significant impact on employment and income distribution pattern. This paper used Chinese Household Income Project Survey （CHIP） to empirically analyze the impact of urban digital economy development on the employment of different sectors of the labor.Research found that the urban digital economy drove the shift from the manufacturing sector to the service sector and it presented a low一skill bias in the short term.Moreover，the urban digital economy has extended the working hours of low-skilled labor，showing a skill wage premium in the service sector，and it is difficult for low一skilled labor to enjoy the wage improvement dividend brought by the development of digital economy. Therefore，the government should vigorously develop the digital economy and optimize the employment structure. Improve the mobility of labor market，reduce the conversion cost of labor employment in different sectors；increase the investment of human capital，expand the scope of skilltraining，reduce the work transition obstacles due to technical iteration； increase the employment conversion compensation for vulnerable groups，and guarantee the work income of low-skilled labor force during the labor transition period.
