The Impact of Network Embeddedness and Digital Dynamic Capabilities on the Competitive Advantage of Advanced Manufacturing Firms

Abstract:Under the accelerated digital transformation of the global manufacturing industry,advanced manufacturing enterprises are facing a paradigm shift in competition. Network embeddedness and digital dynamic capabilities have become key factors influencing firms ability to acquire and sustain competitive advantages.Based on large-sample survey data from advanced manufacturing enterprises in China, this study empirically examines the impact mechanism of network embeddedness on competitive advantage,with a specific focus on the mediating role of digital dynamic capabilities. The findings indicate that both network embeddedness and digital dynamic capabilities have a significant positive impact on competitive advantage. Digital dynamic capabilities play a partial mediating role in the relationship between network embeddedness and competitive advantage. Furthermore,environmental turbulence positively moderates the relationship between network embeddedness and competitive advantage in advanced manufacturing enterprises. The results not only reveal the underlying pathway through which network embeddedness influences competitive advantage via digital dynamic capabilities but also provide theoretical and practical guidance for enhancing sustainable competitive advantage through optimizing network structures and strengthening digital capabilities.
