Abstract:[Purposes]To address the limitations of traditional distribution network communication technologies,such asrestricted coverage and insufficient flexibility,in meeting the digital transformation requirements of smart distribution networks,this study explores the adaptive application modes of 5G private networks in the smart distribution grid domain,aiming to provide technical support for enhancing operational eficiency and power supply reliability.[Methods] The core technical advantages of 5G private networks,including network slicing and edge computing,are elaborated.By integrating the communication demands of typical business scenarios in smart distribution networks,such as distribution automation and distributed energy integration,a "technology-characteristics-business-needs" matching model is established.Based on this model,specific application schemes of 5G private networks across various scenarios are analyzed.Finally,current challenges in practical application are outlined,and future development directions are proposed.[Findings] The study confirms that 5G private networks can fulfill differentiated communication requirements of various services through customized network slicing,achieving milisecond-level latency control via edge computing. These capabilities offer significant advantages in addressing deployment challnges of distribution automation in remote areas and improving the precision of distributed energy management.[Conclusions]Leveraging its low latency,high bandwidth,high reliability,and massive connectivity,5G private networks can effctively support the diverse service demands of smart distribution networks,positioning them as a key communication technology for advancing the energy internet. Future efforts focusing on deepening technology integration,strengthening security measures,and unifying industry standards will further facilitate the large-scale integrated application of 5G private networks in smart distribution networks.
