AbstractThisstudyaddresses thechallengesofhighcostsassciatedwithexternallysourcedcoalandtheporqualityoflocal coalforspodumeneconversionroasting inaremoteminingareaof theDRC.Byanalyzingthecompositionalcharacteristicsofcoal fromthesurroundingminingaeaandneighboringcountres,blendedcoalutilzationshemewasproposed,mixinglocalowquality coal withhigh-qualitycoalfrom Zimbabwe/Zambiaata1:1ratio,complementedbytheimplementationofoxygen-enrichedprimaryir combustiontechnology.Theresultsindicatethattheblendedcoalachievesalowerheatingvalueof21.8OMJ/kg,mtingthe requirementsofteroastingprocsswithanestimatedanualfuelcostsavingofapproximatelyUSD5.6mlli.Teoxygeniched primaryairschemeefectivelymitigatesignitiondificultiescausedbythelowvolatilematercontenofteblendedcoal.Furthre, compared toafull-windoxygen enrichmentscheme,itrequireslower investment,making itmore suitableforlocalconditions.
