AbstractTorationalldeterminethestructuralparametersofstopesusingthedriftopenstopingwithsubsequentbackfillmethod atthe-40mfirstmining levelof theYinzhu Mountainlead-zinc-silver mine,acomprehensiveanalysiswasconductedemploying engineeringgeologcalsurveys,laboratoryrock mechanicstests,rock mass clasification(usingboththeRMRandBQmthods),and the Mathews stabilitygraph method.Samplingandjointfracturesurveys werecariedoutonlead-zinc-silverores,graniteporphyry, andcrystaltuffwithintheminingareatoobtainrockmassqualityindicesandkeymechanicalparametersBasedonthesedatathe stability number (N) and allowable shape factor(S)for different ore and rock types were calculated and compared with theactual shape factorsunderthepreliminarydesignparameters.Theresultsindicatethat theactualshapefactorsforalloreandrock types inboththe stoperoofandwallsarelowerthantheircorespondingallowablevalues.Tisconfimsthatthedesignparametersmtthestability requirementsforstoperofintegrityandwallself-support,therebyvalidatingtherationalityandsafetyoftheproposedstructural parameters.
