Abstract Theselectionof mining method iscentral to mining technology.This paper focuses onacopper-cobalt mine inAfrica, characterized by a thick,stratified ore deposit.The ore body liesata depth of 40o~50O m with a dip angleof 5∘~10∘ ,containing approximately 37.4 million tonnes of resources. The average grades are 1.17% Cu and 0.53% Co. The engineering geological conditionsaremoderate,whilethehydrogeologicalconditionsarecomplex.Theminedevelopmentsystememploysdualdecline + (204号 auxiliaryshaftdevelopmentmethod,targetingaproductionscaleof6kt/dFolowingpreliminaryselectionofminingmethods,the caving method was excluded,with the open stoping and cut - and -- fill methods identified as viable options.A comprehensive comparisonwasthenconductedbetweenthesetwoethodsbasedonsafetyservielife,esourcerecoveryrateandeconomicbeits. Theresultsindicatetatteuadfllmetoderssignificantadvantagesingrondpressureontrol,ductioofordiutiond loss,extensionofine life,andimprovementofnetpresentvalue(NPV).Althoughthecut-and-fillmethodincursaighercostper tonneofore,idemonstratessuperioroveralleconomicandenvironmentalbenefits.Consequentlythecut-and-fillmningethodis ultimatelyrecommended.Corrspondingstopestructureparametersandlayout werealsodeterined,providingatchnicalbsisfor efficient and safe mining operations.
