AbstractDuetoinsufiientpreliminaryhydrogeologicalinvestigation,thehydrogeologcalconditionsofteminngreawerenot thoroughlyidentified,itresultedinsignificantdiscrepanciesbetweenthepredictedwaterinflowintotheopenpitandtheactual productionconditions,ladingtoriesofsus,cludingslopepagendcolse,educdinngndstiping diffcultisinoreprocessng.Byconductingon-sitesurveysoftheactualwaterinflowanddewateringefectivenessinthepit, systematicanalysiswasperformedtoidentifydeficienciesintheearlierinvestigationregardingboundaryconditions,aquifer characteristics,hydrogeologicalproptsoffaultsanddeterminationofteinvestigationtype.Basedodatafrominingeposure andpumpingtests,anewunderstandingofthehydrogeologicalconditionsintheminingareawasestablished:themainwaterfilled aquifersaretheNg1.2andRkarstaquifers,whichexhibitstrong wateryieldandpermeability;faultsdemonstrategoodwater conductivityandmayserveasconduitsconectingregionalaquifers;thehydrauliccoectionwiththeLualabaRiverrequiresfurther clarification;andtheminingareashouldbeclasifiedashavingcomplexhdrogeologicalconditions.Waterinflowwasrepredicted usingtheanalogymethod,yieldingresultsmoreconsistentwithactualproductioncondionsandprovidingareliablebasisforwater prevention and control efforts.
