Research on runoff and sediment yield characteristics of Shajiang black soil slope underartificialsimulatedrainfall

AbstractThisstudyinvestigated therunoffandsediment yield paternsof Shajiang black soil throughartificial simulated rainfall experiments under varying rainfall intensities (40, 6O,8O mm/h) and slope gradients (2∘,4∘,6∘,8∘) . The resultsshowed that the initialrunoff time wasnegativelycorrelatedwithboth rainfall intensityand slopegradient. Specifically,itfollowedabinarypolynomialfunction withrainfall intensityandapowerfunction withslope gradient.The runoffratechangedwithrainfalldurationas follws:itroserapidlyintheinitial stage,transitionedthroughannflection pointthat occurrd earlieron steeper slopes,andthen entered astablefluctuation phase where the amplitude increased with greater rainfall intensity. Under the rainfall intensity of 80mm/h ,the maximum runoff rate reached 3O L/min. Similarly, the sedimentyieldrateexhibitedarapid increase initially,passdanearlier inflectionpointonsteeperslopes,and then attainedaquasi-steady state during thestable fluctuationphase.Higherrainfallintensities led tomorepronounced oscilltions,andasthe erosion processapproached equilibrium,thesediment yieldrate tended to stabilize.The peak sediment yield was recorded at 1103g/min under an 8∘ slope and 80mm/h rainfall intensity. Furthermore, the regression equationsestablishedfor totalrunoffandsediment yield indicated thatslopegradient hadagreater influenceonrunoff volume thanrainfallintensity,whereas rainfalintensity exertedastronger efectonsediment yield thanslope gradient.
