Production technology of dense planting and drip irrigation with integrated water and fertilizer for summer maize

AbstractThis paper systematically summarized the key technical points of dense plantingand drip irrigation with integrated water and fertilizer for summer maize,covering the entiregrowth cycle.During thepre-sowing preparation stage,flat and welldrained fields were selected,and fine straw incorporation combined with periodic deep tillage orsubsoiling were implemented.Fertilization wasapplied basedonsoil fertility,and dense-planting-resistant, machine-harvestable coatedvarieties (suchas Nongda778 and Dedan123)were preferentially selected,with a rational planting densityof 5OOo-6OoO plants/667 m2.Adrip irigation system comprising a head controlunit and a three-level pipeline network was established,with pressure-compensating drip tapes being thepreferred choice.In the sowing operation,methods such as guided precision sowing,stubble-direct seeding,or triangular seedling-fixing sowing were adopted to ensure sowing quality.The sowing time was determined acording to the planting pattern,and simultaneousoperations of sowing,fertilization,anddrip tape laying wereachieved.Field management focused on fertigationas thecore,with irrgationand splitnitrogenapplicationscarriedout basedonsoil moisture monitoring at diffrent growth stages. Complementary practices,including seedling thinning and final spacing,chemical weeding, growth regulation,and integrated diseaseand pestcontrol, were implemented.During the harvest and storage stage, maize was harvested using combine harvesters at the appropriate delayed time when the husks turnedyellow,the kernel milk line disappeared,and the moisture content dropped below 25% . The grains were then dried to a moisture content below 13% before storage.The drip irrgation system was regularly inspected and maintained,and related equipment was recycled after harvest.This paper provides a reference forthe green and sustainableproduction of summer maize.
