Analysis of yield formation and dry matter transport characteristics of wheat varieties in Shandong Province during the 1950s-2010s

AbstractInorder todeeplyunderstand thecharacteristicsof yield formationanddrymatter transportof wheat varieties in Shandong Province during the 195Os-2010s,8 wheat varieties were selected forfield tests,including Bima No.1,JinanNo.2,TaishanNo.1,LumaiNo.1Yannong19,Jimai22,Tanmai98,andLuyuan502.Theyieldandits components,dry matter translocation characteristics,and changes indry mater allcation among diffrent organs of these varieties werecomparativelyanalyzed.Theresults indicated that with variety improvement,wheatyield,grains per spike,and thousand-kernel weightshowedanincreasing trend,whilethenumberof spikesremained relatively stable. The contributionrate of pre-anthesis dry mater storageandtranslocation to grain decreased,while thecontribution rate of post-anthesis drymatteraccumulationgradually increased.Theproportionofdrymatter allocated to leavesand spikes increased,whilethat allocated tostems decreased,indicating enhanced sink capacityandsource strength in wheat.Coordinating yield components,promoting there-translocation of pre-anthesis stored substances basedon ensuring post-anthesis dry mater accumulation,and optimizing source-sink structure were identifiedas important objectives for future high yield wheatbreeding.
