Experience of Traditional Chinese Medicine Master ZHANG Zhiyuan in Treating Arthralgia Syndrome

AbstractThis article summarizesProfessor ZHANG Zhiyuan’s experience in treating arthralgia syndrome. Basedon theclassics such as The Yellow Emperor's Canon of Internal Medicine and Synopsis of the Golden Chamber，Master ZHANG proposesnew pathogenesistheories suchas“yin deficiencyarthralgia”，“arthralgia caused by disharmony of ying and wei”，and“arthralgia caused by obstruction of the fine collterals in Xuanfu”onthe basisof thetraditional theory of arthralgia caused by wind，cold，dampnessand heat.He summarizesthe characteristic therapeutic methods of nourishing yin to relievearthralgia，promoting the circulationof qiandunblockingcollaterals，harmonizing yingand wei，inducing sweating torelievearthralgia， clearing heat and promoting diuresis，and warming yang to relieve arthralgia andaccumulates distinctive medicinal experience such as“Shengdihuang（Rehmannia Raw）nourishing yin andrelieving arthralgia”，“Huangqi（Astragalus Membranaceus） inducing sweatingand relieving arthralgia”，“Shigao（Gypsum Fibrosum）clearing heat and relieving arthralgia”， and“Duhuo（Angelicae Pubescentis Radix），Fengfang（Vespae Nidus） and Dahuang（Rhei Radix ET Rhizoma）unblocking collaterals and promoting the circulation of qi to treat arthralgia".
