The Impact of the Digital Economy on the High-Quality Development of the Manufacturing Industry and its Mechanism

Abstract:Based on panel data for 3O provinces regions on the Chinese mainland(excluding Tibet） from 2014 to 2023，the index systems of digital economy，high-quality development of manufacturing industry，digital divide and employment quality were constructed，and whether there wasa mediating effect between employment qualityand digital divide in the impact of digital economy on the high-quality development of manufacturing industry was studied through the mediating effect model，and whether the impact of various dimensions of digital economy on the high-quality development of manufacturing industry was explored. The results show that: ① The development of the digital economy can drive the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry. ② Employment quality and digital divide have a certain transmission effect on the high-quality development of the manufacturing industryin the process of digital economy，and improving employment quality and narrowing the gap between the digital divide is an important mechanism path for the digital economy to affect the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry. ③ In the heterogeneity analysis，there are differences in the impact of each dimension of the digital economy on the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry，and the industrial digitalization dimension has the most obvious impact on the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry，while the impact of digital industrialization is the least obvious.
