Indoor-outdoor relay breeding techniques of Hippocampus in the Yellow River Delta

Abstract： In order to make full use of the resource advantages of the Yellow River Delta， improve the utilization rate of ponds，according to the different living habits of Hippocampus abdominalis and Hippocampus erectus，indoor-outdoor relay breeding was carried out in the coastal ponds of the Yellow River Delta. When the temperature was low in winter and spring，indoor culture was carried out; at the beginning of March，when the water temperature in the outdoor pond achieved 18∘C ，the Hippocampus abdominalis was moved to the outdoor pond for breeding. In early May， the water temperature in the outdoor pond was stable above ，the Litopenaeus vannamei were stocked on sunny day. In the middle and late May，the water temperature in the outdoor pond rose to ，the Hippocampus abdominalis was moved back to the workshop to continue indoor culture，the hightemperature resistance species Hippocampus erectus were put into the outdoor pond for polyculture with Litopenaeus vannamei. In October，Litopenaeus vannamei were harvested with cage-like fish trap，the average body length of the two seahorses was 5.1cm and 10.3cm respectively.
