Abstract: To investigate the efects of temperature on the feeding, digestion, and respiratory physiology of the starfish Asterina pectinifera ,this study conducted controlled laboratory experiments using three size groups (small: 3~4cm ;medium: 4~5cm ;large: 5~6 cm in diameter)under three temperature gradients ( 15°C , ,and 25°C ).Key physiological parameters, including food intake, feeding rate, oxygen consumption rate, and digestive enzyme activity, were measured. Results showed that:No mortality was observed in any temperature group; At 20°C ,all size groups exhibited significantly higher food intake compared to 15∘C and 10∘C groups ( P<0.05 ),with a distinct diurnal feeding rhythm(daytime feeding rates were significantly lower than nighttime rates); The 25°C group showed significantly elevated oxygen consumption rates ( P<0. 05 ),while within each temperature group, larger individuals progressively decreased their oxygen demand; No significant temperature一 dependent effects were detected in digestive enzyme activity P>0.05) . These findings indicate that 15~20∘C represents the optimal temperature range for A . pectinifera feeding. For seabed-cultivated areas, enhanced management strategies to remove this species are recommended to mitigate poten tial ecological risks.
