Relationship Between Soil Color and Degree of Soil Development in a Typical Karst Area of Hunan Province

Abstract:Toinvestigatetecoelationbetweethesoilcolorandsoildevelopmentinkarstareas,thisstudyfocusedonthesoils 中 (0-30cm) developedfrom weatheredlimestoneparent materialinatypical karstareaofHunanProvince.Thesoilcolorparameters (hueH,chromaCandvaueV)weremeasuredandintegratedwithgeographicdataandsoilphyicochemicalpropertiestoestablish asystematiclasificationframeworkof thesoil.Furthermore,therelationshipetweensoilcolorandthedegreeofsoildevelopment wasexploredThresultsaesummarzedasfollws.Inthesystematicclasificationframeork,thearstsoilsinthestdyarea werecategordintooursldes:Athosolsesolssolsdambisos.)iiatdereceeistedinolr parameters ofdiferentkarstsoils.Mostsoilsamplesshowed thehueofYR,ofwhich10YRaccountedforthehghestproportion.he rangesof CandVvalueswere4-8and1-8,respectively.Theprofilediferences insoilcolorofAnthrosolswere more pronounced thanthoseofotersoilorders.(3)Thesoil pHinthestudyarea predominantlyrangedfromacidic to weaklyalkaline,withtextures mainly consisting of clay or clay loam.The content of free Fe2O3 washigh,while the organic matter content exhibited significant variations.Soilorganic materandironcontentwereidentifedaskeyfactorsinfuencingsoilcolor.Anincreaseinorganicatter content enhanced thehumus staining degree,darkening thesoilcolor.Inreases inclayparticle proportionledtodecreased Vand increased C.With the advancement of soil development, the enrichment of free Fe2O3 occurred concurrently with the increase in clay content. The silt-clay ratio demonstrated significant correlations (P<0.01 ) with soil color parameters.
