Study on Mechanical Properties and Piezoresistive Properties of Carbon Nanotube Mortar

Abstract:[Purposes] To explore the influence of carbon nanotubes on the mechanical properties and piezoresistive propertiesof cement mortar.[Methods] Cement mortar samples reinforced with different dosages (0, 0.05 wt%, 0.10wt% , 0.15wt% ) of carbon nanotubes were prepared, and their compressive strength and flexural strength were tested. Meanwhile,the resistivity of the carbon nanotubereinforced cement mortar samples during loading was measured using a piezoresistive tester.[Findings] Compared with the ordinary cement mortar sample,the compressive strength of the mortar was increased by 29.29% at the dosage of 0.10wt% carbon nanotubes,while the flexural strength of the mortar was increased by 33.6% at the dosage of 0.15wt% carbon nanotubes; In addition,under uniaxial compressive load,the addition of carbon nanotubes could effectively improve the piezoresistive properties of the cement mortar,among which the 0.10wt% carbon nanotube dosage had the most significant effect on enhancing the piezoresistive properties of the cement mortar.[Conclusions]A reasonable content of carbon nanotubes can improve the mechanical and piezoresistive properties of cement mortar.
