Research on Key Technologies for Improving the Quality and Performance of Asphalt Permeable Pavement in High Humidity Tunnel Environments

Abstract: [Purposes] To address the specific pavement condition where long-term water accumulation on the asphalt pavement inside the tunnel,caused by the climate diference between the north and south entrances and water seepage,severely affects traffc safety,research on key technologies for improving the quality and performance of asphalt permeable pavement in high-humidity tunnel environments is necessary.[Methods] Firstly,the influence of the proportion of mineral powder to fine aggregate in the mixture on the performance of permeable asphalt mixture was studied through tests of stability, Cantabro loss(immersed), water seepage,and connected void ratio.Secondly,bysimulating the environmental conditions inside the tunnel and using the rotary shear test,the interlayer bonding material was optimized. Finally,by studying and comparing the pavement drainage performance and the interlayer bonding performance under diferent compaction processes,the optimal compaction process was determined.[Findings] The research found that an increase in the mineral powder replacement amount is beneficial for improving the durability of the mixture but reduces the connected void ratio.Both rubber-tire rolling and vibratory steel-wheel rolling significantly affect the water permeability of the overlay mixture.An appropriate number of rubber-tire rolling passes is conducive to improving the durability of the surface layer. [Conclusions] The research findings provide scientific and effctive ideas for effectively solving the skid resistance and durability problems of asphalt pavement in humid tunnels and for the design of permeable mixtures with special environmental requirements.
