Slope Stability Analysis Based on FLACD and COMSOL

Abstract: [Purposes] The stability of slopes under different working conditions is analyzed to provide a theoretical basis for slope prevention and reinforcement.[Methods] Numerical simulation, including FLAC 3D and COMSOL,is an important tool for analyzing slope stability.By comparing the simulation results of these two software for the same slope under different working conditions,this paper discusses their application effects and diferences between these two tools.[Findings] The results show that the two software have the same functions and the simulation results are similar.In the case of the same input parameters, the simulation results of FLAC 3D and COMSOL have differences in aspects such as the maximum principal stress,shear stress,longitudinal displacement,factor of safety,etc.The maximum principal stress and factor of safety obtained by COMSOL software are generally higher,while the maximum shear stress and longitudinal displacement are lower.[Conclusions] This regular diffrence is helpful to deepen the understanding of slope stability analysis.
