BreedingReport on theNew Spring WheatVarietyLongchun 48 with Early Maturity and High Quality

Abstract:Inorder torealizethecooperativeimprovementof multi-objective traitssuchasearlymaturity,highqualityigh yieldandgraintraitsofspringwheatvarietis,andtoaddresstheneedsofspringheatvarietisintheiritatedareaofGansuProvince, since2012,the WheatResearch InstituteofGansuAcademyof Agricultural Scienceshassucesfullybredanewmedumglutenspring wheatvarietyLongcun48witharlymaturityhighqualityandhghyieldthoughartificialhybridization.Itsparentcombinatiois winterdwarfmalesterleplant/YongT8.Teaverageequivalentyieldofthisarietyinthe2O toO23westeiitatedspringweat regional experiment in Gansu Province was 7 961.75 kg/ha, an increase of 8.32% compared to the control variety Ningchun 4. In the 2024spring wheatproductionexperimentinthewesterpartofGansuProvince,theaverageequivalentyieldwas7930.80kg/hawhich was 7.01% higherthanthecontrolvariety Ningchun 4.Longchun 48 hasaplant heightof78cm,acompactplantshape,nearlyspindle shapedspikeslongs,ieshelsiteansratizdgasndeelltpum.ebrofieclei 6.405millonearsathenumberof grainsperspikeis44.0,andtethousandgrainweightis43.4g.Thegraicontains32.6g/kgof crude protein(dry basis), 289.0 g/kg of wet gluten, and 834 g/L ofbuck density. The flour characteristics include a dough water absorption of 627mL/kg ,adough formation time of 4.5 min,a stabilizationtime of5.Omin,astretching area of 47cm2,an extensibility of 162 mm,andamaximumstretchingresistanceofO2E.U,metingthenationalstandardformediumglutenwheatvarieties.Tefield productionshowsstrongldgingresistance,mmunitytopowderymildewandmoderatesusceptibilitytostripeust,hichissitablefor popularization and planting in irigated spring wheat type areas and similar ecological areas in Gansu Province.
