Analysis and Improvement Measures for Mechanical Shaft Seal Leakage of Desulfurization Unit Chemical Pump on a Ship

Abstract：Severe mechanical shaft seal leakage in the chemical pump of a desulfurization unit on a retrofitted seriesof ships significantlyafected the normal operation of the desulfurization chemical system.Investigation and analysis revealed that the primary causes included improper model selection of the mechanical shaft seal， incorrect installation，and suboptimal chemical condition. After implementing targeted improvement measures based on these causes，the leakage issue was successfully resolved.
