Fault Analysis and Restoration of Zero-Position Deviation in Mechanical Rudder Angle Indicator for a Flap Air Rudder

Abstract： During mooring tests of a ship's flap air rudder and control system，a zero-position deviation of approximately was observed in the mechanical rudder angle indicator for the central flap air rudder under zerocommand conditions in the follow-up operational mode.This exceeded the required system positioning accuracy of ，compromising maneuverability and navigation safety. Through fault tree analysis（FTA）based on failure symptoms，operational data，and system behavior，this study identifies faulty components via inspection and disassembly，determines root causes，and investigates failure mechanisms. Corrective measures were implemented to resolve the deviation， ensuring operational reliability and safety.
